Maybelle Boma, renowned Cameroonian blogger and cultural activist, received the Excellence Award from CAMIFF for her outstanding contributions to the Cameroon entertainment industry. The award was presented at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Cameroon International Film Festival held at the Buea Mountain Hotel in the Southwest Region on April 27, 2024.
Representatives from the Toghu Association for Culture (TAC) received the award on behalf of Maybelle Boma, expressing her gratitude to the CAMIFF board for the recognition. In her message, conveyed by Beng Humphrey, the award winner dedicated the honor to all those tirelessly promoting a positive image of Cameroon’s entertainment community worldwide.
Maybelle Boma’s journey began in 2010 when she introduced blogging to Cameroon, paving the way for her later initiative, the Cameroon Entertainment Award (CEA), which showcased numerous artistic talents in the country. Her efforts garnered attention from African heads of state and diplomatic figures.
After a hiatus, Maybelle Boma returned to the forefront by promoting Cameroon’s unique Toghu traditional outfit through the establishment of the Toghu Association for Culture (TAC). She believes that a vibrant Cameroonian cultural fashion industry is essential for the country’s entertainment sector to thrive globally. This recognition by the Cameroon International Film Festival adds to her accolades for promoting Cameroonian culture internationally.
